It’s been a good event. Beeton, then Ivy and finally Nottawa will be better and better.
The Top Choice for best chili cooking site was Gloria.
He did fairly well coming away with a trophy.
All this time the Chili is hot and getting hotter. Finally the moment of tasting and judging is upon us. Here, Lenore Job, the Convenor of this event and grand master of all that is Chili, is giving instructions to our two celebrity judges, Mike MacEachern, the past Mayor of New Tecumseth, and Amy MacPherson, an Investigative Journalist (CBC, Huffington Post) who lives in Wasaga Beach .
This was serious business with very high stakes, or perhaps I should say “hot” stakes! Both Judges maintained this has been the most difficult decisions they have made in years. It was an intense job as can be seen. But they came through in style and rendered their verdict. Their obvious skills were later substantiated by the “people’s choice” tally which matched their choice for the best of the best chefs.
AND THE AWARDS CEREMONIES WERE ON:
1st: Shawn Carrierre – Clearview Twp
2nd: Bob Higginson – Essa Twp
3rd: Gloria Peckford – New Tecumseth
(Actually, as you can see I almost chopped his head off)
Of course, lots was going on as this was unfolding. We had a great dinner, CHILI of course, five different to choose from. Each one was delicious and I personally eliminated only two as not to my taste in the first round. My second round still left me without a winner so I had to go for a third helping before I reluctantly chose a winner.
All this while there was lots of other activities going on. The cash bar was a popular hang out to help pass the time between events, and help wash away the jalapenos. As with all such events they would never occur without the many volunteers who toiled long hours, sometimes unseen, and too frequently unrecognized for their selfless efforts.
Many Many Thanks to all of you!
But that wasn’t the end!
And we carried on into the night with our state of the art equipped D.J.
A great day and a great Start for the
1st Simcoe-Grey Chili Games,
